Description:
Panpepato
Panforte: “Panforte”
is a typical cake from medieval times, created in the city of Siena, in
Tuscany. It was made with the new flavors, introduced when spices
arrived to Italy from the east.
It is a rich substantial cake, which has become one of Tuscany’s, and maybe even Italy’s, feature cakes.
PANPEPATO: Using
the same essential ingredients as the Panforte Nero, this cake is very
similar, but features more spices. Cinnamon and nutmeg are the most
important ones. Panpepato is probably the closest to the ancient recipe
of panforte, created in medieval times.
Ingredients: almonds,
sugar, candied melon & orange peeling, flour, honey, Tuscan spices,
natural flavorings, starch & wafers.
